Dear Partners in Christ,
It seems like quite often angels say, “Do not be afraid.” They must be frightening. During Club, we asked students what they were afraid of. “Big dogs, tests, and graduation” were some of the answers. The answers I am most concerned about are, “Do I have to tell you?” Some of our youth have troubled lives.
I imagine Mary was afraid when the angel told her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and you will give birth to a child.” The angel followed by saying, “Nothing will be impossible with God.” Reassured by the angel, Mary responded by saying, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” May that be our prayer each morning.
